Traditional Hummus – Serves 6





  • 2 x 400g can chickpeas drained
  • 2 to 3 garlic cloves coarsely chopped (or more if you wish)
  • 1tbsp tahini
  • 3tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • 2 to 3tbsp natural yoghurt (or enough to give a consistency which you prefer)
  • salt and black pepper


Put all ingredients except yoghurt in food processor and blitz, then add yoghurt until mixture takes on desired consistency, season with salt and pepper. You could add chilli, lemon zest, paprika, I like to top it with toasted pine nuts.  As a dip if you serve this with vegetable crudités you are helping towards your 7 to 11 portions of fruit & veg per day and it really takes 5 mins.
